Limited edition posters
These posters were created by Mario Uribe between 1978 and 1985. They were hand-screened by the artist personally, in editions of 500 and 1,000. Out of that edition, between 15 and 50 were signed and numbered. The posters were originally sold in galleries throughout the United States and Europe. These are the remaining prints designed by the artist. They are all out of print, and have been stored flat in acid-free condition.
JOYOUS SURPRISE
“The transition from the emotionally graphic and figurative work I was doing early in my career, to the serene spontaneity and seemingly abstraction of a Zen circle or Chinese character is only visually drastic. The essence and spirit of creation remain the same. The physical, direct, and passionate components are still present; but in addition, there are also elements of joyous surprise, patience, fulfillment, healing, spirituality, acceptance, humility, simplicity, sharing, spontaneity, surrender, and the promise that something unseen will make itself present.”—Mario Uribe, artist
